Co-Operative Charting - Charting new waters in the GISPS!

While still a fledgling little squadron on the southern extreme of District 26, the Golden Isles Sail and Power Squadron has some very special assets among its people! One of these assets is the involvement of John and Pat Rodgers of Charlotte, NC, whose trawler, the Summertime, spends a large part of the year in our waters. Any conscientious boater in our area will quickly assure you that our local charts are in dire need of some serious correction. The Rodgers bring to us and share their expertise in offering the training to put the GISPS “on the chart” in this most important service of the United States Power Squadron.

The first session, an all day session on the Rodgers’ “Summertime”, was thoroughly enjoyed by many members! So much so, that a follow-up session was held on July 14, 2007. One need not have been to the first to benefit greatly from the latter. It recapped the basics from the introductory program and focused on how to enter the corrections via internet. Attended by a number of guests, including our District 26 Co-Op Charting Officer, the special events really helped put the GISPS on the chart, so to speak!
