Squadron Charter

CHARTER is on the horizon!

On Saturday April 16, 2005, the Golden isles Provisional Squadron  held its formal organizational meeting to start the ball rolling down the final stretch to remove the “provisional” from our name and become a fully charted squadron of the United States Power Squadrons.

Topics discussed and voted on included our proposed by-laws, a name for our newsletter, the design for our squadron burgee and the initial bridge of officers for our post-provisional era. By-laws proposed from National were adopted with minimal changes andburgee “Golden Isles Sail & Power Squadron Porthole” was selected as the name for our newsletter. The burgee approved with acceptance of a few details from national is as depicted here:

The new bridge of officers to come in with the full chartering of the squadron at National in Charlotte, N.C. in June include the following:

Commander: Audie Holmes

Executive Officer: Preston Lewis

Squadron Education Officer: Dave Boothman

Assistant Education Officer: Elaine Boothman

Administrative Officer: Karl E. Peters

Secretary: Helen Wheeler

Treasurer: Sandy Cox

Public Relations Officer: Karl E. Peters

Also elected to posts were Dave Boothman to chair the Nominating Committee,  assisted by Howard and Jeanne Klippel; Helen Wheeler to chair the Auditing Committee with assistance fromDonald Kline; Pat Rodgers to chair the Rules Committee with assistance of Bucky Harris and Howard Klippel; and finally, Pat Rodgers’ offer to assist us in establishing a Co-Op Charting program was gratefully accepted and she was elected chair of Co-Op Charting, as well.

Please make every effort to attend and participate in the national spring Governing Board meeting to be held this June 1-5  in Charlotte, N. C. Come share the joy!!!
